Super Dukkah - Egyptian Spice Mix

  • 1 cup hazelnuts
  • 1 cup sesame seeds
  • 1 cup pistachios
  • 2 tbsp ground coriander
  • 2 tbsp ground cumin
  • 2 tbsp sea salt
  • 2 tsp ground black pepper


  1. Toast the hazelnuts in a frying pan for a few mins.

  2. Place the hazelnuts in a clean tea towel and rub together to remove the skin as much as possible. The skin can have a bitter taste which is why we are removing for this spice mix.

  3. Toast the sesame seeds the pan for a few mins.

  4. Place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse a few times until all ingredients are broken down to a fine crumb.

  5. Store in the fridge in a sealed container for several weeks.

  6. Use as a dip with added olive oil or sprinkle on your savoury dishes - curries, soups, dal, salads...
