You do not need to use many ingredients to get a health boost – try this orange and ginger shot – full of vitamin C from the orange and anti-inflammatory properties of ginger – this combination of ingredients are great for the colder months to arm yourself against any coughs and colds.  It took just a few minutes to prepare and I used the whole food rather than juicing to retain the fibre.  This makes the shot much thicker (and more filling) but if you prefer, you can juice both the orange and the ginger.  If you do not have a juicer, simply peel the orange and ginger then blend them on high speed for about 1 minute and strain the juice through a sieve – the choice is yours and either way, you will be getting a nutrient-loaded shot which is quickly metabolised, enabling your body to use all those great nutrients in minutes! Great if you feel you have a cold coming on!

  • Juicer or Blender


  • 1 orange peeled
  • 1 inch piece root ginger peeled


  • Place the peeled orange and peeled ginger into a high-speed blender and blitz for about 1 minute until smooth. Pour into a glass and serve thick or pour through a strainer to remove the fibre and drink only the juice.


If you prefer your drink to be very smooth with no bits, simply juice the orange and ginger through a juicer instead of blending.
